Professor Al Sacco (front row, left), head of Chemical Engineering, is a payload specialist aboard NASA’s Space Shuttle Columbia. An earlier student-built experiment based on his zeolite research was part of the space mission. In 2014, Leshin, an accomplished space scientist, becomes WPI’s 16th president, further elevating the school’s prominence in space exploration.
