Modern Rocketry
1926
In 1926, Robert Goddard, Class of 1908, launches the first liquid-fueled rocket. In 1904, Goddard enrolls in the school’s relatively new general science program. He conducts some of his early experiments with rockets in the tiny Magnetic Laboratory building. Like many WPI students, Goddard has visionary ideas with wide-ranging practical applications.
