Fire Protection Degree
1993
In 1898, Henry Lucian Phillips ‘93 predicts that fire protection will become a serious subject by scientific colleges. Eighty-one years later, WPI is the first in the nation to offer a graduate degree program in fire protection engineering (FPE). In 1991, WPI offers the first PhD program in FPE. The program goes global in 1993 with the first distance learning FPE degree.
